LMC slaps #2m fine on Nassarawa United

League Management Company (LMC) has fined Nassarawa United, the sum of ₦2M for
breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules in their Matchday 1 fixture against the defending champions, Plateau United.

The sanction was necessary after a hostile chunk of Nassarawa United fans, accesed restricted areas within the Lafia Township Stadium, and assaulted match officials in a game that Plateau United won 1-0.

LMC revealed this heavy punishment in a glut of tweets on its verified Twitter handle,
demanding that ₦1M be paid as fine for providing inadequate security at the
Stadium, and another ₦1M be paid as compensation to the 4 assaulted match
officials.

“Nasarawa Utd failed to ensure adequate security, crowd control & restriction of unauthorized persons from restricted areas during the game.

“Nasarawa Utd’s lack of crowd control & failure to restrict unauthorized persons from technical areas, led to their supporters gaining unlawful access to the dressing room of the refs at half time.

“Furthermore, Nasarawa Utd’s failure to ensure adequate security, crowd control & restriction of unauthorized persons from restricted areas, led to the attack & assault of match officials at half time & after the match.

“A fine of N1m has been imposed on Nasarawa Utd for failure to ensure
adequate security & crowd control which violates NPFL Framework & Rules.

“Nasarawa Utd will also pay N1m, being compensation for assault on the match officials, that is N250,000 each to the referee, AR1, AR2 & 4th official (reserve ref).” The tweets​ read.

Nasarawa United have 48 hours to appeal or accept the imposed sanctions.
