Akwa United manager Abdu Maikaba has said he is not satisfied with the match officials performance against MFM FC on Friday at the Soccer Temple, Agege.
Akwa United lost their first game in six NPFL matches at MFM FC in the rescheduled matchday 8 league game in Lagos. Sikiru Olatunbosun goal on 36 minutes ensured the home side secured the three points against the Solid Miners.
Micheal Ibe’s goal for Akwa United was ruled offside by referee Thomas Nwite. Cyril Olisema’s shot inside the box but Ibe who was spotted offside by assistant referee two Zaidu Abdullahi interfered with a final touch.
“I don’t see any reason why the assistant referee ruled the goal for offside, I think we scored a legit goal and our equalizer was decided wrongly,” Maikaba argued.
“The assistant referee shouldn’t have disallowed our goal, there is nothing wrong with the goal and I believe we scored a good goal. I think it was a mistake from the assistant referee, my boys fought hard and I am satisfied with their performance.”
Despite the defeat Akwa United remain top of the NPFL table with 16 points from eight matches.
