After a brief pause due to the 2019 General Elections, the Nigerian Professional Football League is back.

This Sunday, actions enter matchday eleven with Sunshine Stars FC of Akure and Enyimba of Aba headlining the pack of fixures.

In terms of title, there isn’t much pick between the two clubs as the Aba giants have won seven NPFL titles, while the Akure side are still searching for a first.

However, their past encounters have created huge spectacle with goals amid other thrills and frills.

In 22 meetings, Sunshine Stars have won seven, while Enyimba reign supreme with 11wins even as four games ended stalemates.

The atmosphere won’t be too different  this time around, considering recent results and positions of the two clubs on the table.

Having played eight matches this season, Sunshine Stars occupy the fourth position  in the group A log, with 12 points while Enyimba sit two places above them with 15 points from ten matches.

So far this season, Sunshine Stars have won just two of their four home matches while they were held to uncompromising statements on the other two occasions.

On the other side, Enyimba’s away from is not all that  impressive as the Aba giants have only  picked two points on the road this season.

Standing on the shoulder of these stats, the anticipating home fans are confident the Owena Waves will make them proud.

“I’m expecting nothing less than a victory. With the form Sunshine Stars are, they should be able to dispatch Enyimba, there is nothing so special about them (Enyimba). They are only riding on past glory.” says Udoh Emmanuel, an easterner who resides in the Sunshine State.

As all roads lead to the Ondo State Sports Complex, expectations are sky high and all eyes will be on new marksman, Fu’ad Ekelojuoti to deliver once again.
