Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu of MFM FC says his side will develop ways to cope with playing in venues with bad surfaces in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
MFM FC lost 2-0 on Wednesday to Enyimba in Calabar in a rescheduled matchday 11 fixture and Ilechukwu says the loss was hugely down to the playing surface at the U.J Esuene Stadium.
“It was a good game but i will say that the turf is very bad with our kind of game because we love keeping the ball on the ground,” said Ilechukwu post match.
“With this condition, I knew our team was going to struggle. That is why I am trying to change a bit in our team incase we meet this kind of situation again.”
First half goals from Nelson Ogbonnaya and Chinonso Okonkwo put Enymba in the lead against the team from Lagos and despite playing with a man advantage for over half an hour following the sending off of Enyimba defender Isiaka Oladuntoye, MFM failed to take anything from the Match.
It would be the first time MFM FC has lost the fixture since their promotion to the NPFL. The Olukoya boys are now placed 10th on the league standings with 19 points from 13 games.
