Nigeria Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has stated the reason Chelsea’s winger Victor Moses decided to call it quit with the national team.
The pacy winger announced his international retirement last week to the amazement of the millions of soccer-loving Nigerians.
The Franco-German gaffer reacted to the Moses decision in a chat with Naijafootballplus.com, while announcing the list of players invited for the upcoming 2019 AFCON qualifier against Seychelles.
“Victor Moses now has to fight for a starting position in Chelsea and it’s not easy for him, so we want him to concentrate on his club side.
When we qualify for AFCON, if we call him, he will come back because he has a special skillful way of playing, which can help us very much, especially in the offensive position .
Am still convinced that the best position for him is the offensive position, not the defensive position he played for Chelsea last season” Rohr said.
Before his retirement, Moses had 37 caps for Nigeria scoring 12 goals.
