Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa on Tuesday scored his first goal of the season in a 4-1 victory for Leicester City over Sheffield United in the English Football League Cup.
Musa who has not been part of Leicester City’s first two league games of the season, wrapped up the victory for the Foxes in stoppage time.
The Nigeria international has been linked with a move elsewhere, owing to his absence in Leicester City’s matchday squad firstly in the 4-3 defeat away at Arsenal and the 2-0 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
24-year-old Musa started and played the entire duration of the match, in a night Leicester City had too much firepower more than the Blades can handle.
Damarai Gray opened the scoring in the 53rd minute of the second half, before a quick double from Algerian striker Island Slimani sent the Foxes on their way to a comfortable second round victory in the League Cup. Coalan Levery grabbed a consolation for Sheffield United on 83 minutes before Musa put the wind out of the hosts sails with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time.
Musa’s Nigerian compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi also featured for the Foxes, but was replaced by Nampalys Mendy after 77 minutes.
Ahmed Musa and Ndidi were among a 23-man invitation squad announced by Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr on Tuesday to play Cameroon in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in September.
