Indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward Christian Bassogog has outlined how important it is for them to beat Nigeria if they must play at the World Cup come 2018.
Cameroon placed second in group B of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with two points from two matches, play Nigeria in a doubleheader next month.
The China based pacy winger recognized Cameroon’s precarious situation in Group B and stated that they need to fight over both legs if they still nurse the intention of playing at the mundial.
Speaking to FIFA on saturday Bassogog said: “Nigeria are a strong team.”
“They have very good players and many
of them are playing in Europe. But we
must defeat them if we are to maintain
our qualifying hopes.
“We should take the game to them. We need to fight to defeat them.”
Nigeria will host the first leg of the encounter on September 1, at the Goodswill Akpabio stadium Uyo and the return leg will come up four days later in Yaounde.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria currently lead the table with 6 maximum points from 2 games while Cameroon has 2 points from the same number of games.
