Nigeria and CSKA Moscow attacker Aaron Samuel Olanare might join the legion of Nigeria players plying their trade in England if the reports coming from St James Park is to be believed.
Newly promoted Premier League side Newcastle United on Tuesday sent scouts to watch the attacker in CSKA Moscow’s clash against Portuguese giants Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.
The Russian side pulled off a shock 2-1 victory over the Portuguese champions away from home thanks to goals from Vitinho and Timur Zhamaletdinov, but eyes from England were instead on Olanare during the upset.
The former Guangzhou R&F attacker played 67 minutes of the encounter before being substituted.
Olanare only joined the Russian side back in
January, signing from Chinese side Guangzhou R&F FC.
He had previously spent the latter half
of the 2015/16 season with CSKA on-loan,
scoring 3 times in 10 appearances – a form that earned him a permanent move to Moscow.
The 23-year-old has made 7 appearances for his country, Nigeria, and scored 2 goals.
