The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and Nigeria Breweries, brewers of Star Lager and Amstel Malta have formally signed a five-year partnership deal which makes the brew “official beer sponsor of the Super Eagles”.
NFF president Amaju Pinnick, speaking to newsmen at the public declaration of the deal in Lagos on Friday, revealed the deal is worth ₦2.2Billion.
The signing was first announced on The Company’s Twitter handle, sharing beautiful pictures from the event.
“We made history today as we began a budding Partnership with the NFF and National Football teams. Star will be the official beer sponsor of the Super Eagles to FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia,” One of the tweets read.
At the event, Mr. Pinnick further explained to newsmen how the huge amount will be used judiciously and transparently.
“We have the head of strategy committee, I can assure you that the strategy committee will look at it critically and advise the executive committee and advise hopefully what we want to do with the funds.
“Right now we have a lot of requirements, we have the foreign coaches we just employed, we have some other back room staff we are also employing,we intend to make all our teams very professional, we might need some help their, but everything that we are doing will be thrown to the public without anything to hide.” he elucidated.
Present at the public declaration were NFF President Amaju Pinnick, NFF First Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi, NFF Second Vice President and League Management Company Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and top officials of Nigeria Breweries.
The NFF has scored some huge partnership deals since the Super Eagles qualified for the World Cup with Coca-Cola, Wapic Insurance, Pay Porte all joining the bandwagon of sponsors.
