NFF postpones Aiteo Cup semi-final between Akwa United and Sunshine Stars


The much-awaited second-leg of the Aiteo Cup semi final clash between Akwa United and Sunshine Stars has been moved by three days to Sunday 8 October, 2017.

Originally scheduled for Wednesday October 4 at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, the semi-final 2nd leg match in which Akwa United trail 0-1 was postponed due to Nigeria’s Super Eagles use of the training pitch mooted to host the match.

This was confirmed via a tweet by Cup sponsors Aiteo group on Wednesday.

“#AiteoCup S/Final 2nd Leg btw @AkwaUnited_fc v @SunshineFCAkure earlier scheduled for Weds. Oct. 4 is now slated for Sun. Oct. 8,in Uyo,” @AiteoCupNgr tweets on Monday.

Sunshine Stars’ Ajibola Otegbeye’s first half powerful header at the Dipo Dina stadium in Ijebu Ode ensured the Owena waves take a first-leg lead ahead of the return-leg on Sunday.

Meanwhile Nigeria Football Federation has announced MFM FC’s Agege stadium as venue for the men’s 2017 final.

The near 5000 capacity stadium christened Soccer Temple was selected after inspection by executive’s of the Federation.
