The Nigerian football association NFF has distanced itself from having any kind of problems with former Super Eagles goalkeeper and captain Vincent Enyeama.
This followed a previous comment by German coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr, that his calls to Enyeama are been turned down by the Lille of France number one goalkeeper due to conflict with the NFF.
NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire told newsmen in Lagos that the information Gernot Rohr has is wrong and he is free to invite Enyeama.
“NFF has never had any problem with Enyeama and I don’t understand why he made such statement and that the NFF is the only reason he can’t return to the Eagles,” said Olajire.
“The only issue I can recall that lead to his retirement from the team, was when he had problems with former coach Sunday Oliseh. Enyeama or any player that Rohr needs to make the Eagles fly is welcomed to the team”.
There seem to be a crises in the goalkeeping department of the super Eagles since Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme got injured while playing for his club side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Rohr clearly does not have enough confidence in back up goalkeepers, Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa ahead of crucial AFCON qualifier against South Africa and World Cup qualifier double header against Cameroon respectively.
Goalkeepers Akpeyi and Ezenwa have failed to convince the coach of their capability to deputise for the injured Ikeme.
