Nigeria Drops One Spot in Latest FIFA Rankings


Despite her participation in the just concluded Russia 2018 World Cup, Nigeria Super Eagles have dropped one spot in the latest FIFA rankings released by the Football Governing body on Thursday.

Nigeria, was ranked 48th for the month of June and have dropped to the 49th position in the World with 1410 points and 7th in Africa.

Super Eagles won one game and lost two at the World Cup and the two games lost, has serious effect on the new ranking.

Carthage Eagles of Tunisia is the first ranked team in Africa, followed by Senegal, DR Congo, Ghana, Morocco, Cameroon respectively in the top six.

The new ranking also placed new World Champions France in 1st position, while former leaders Germany, dropped to15th position.

Nigeria will have the opportunity to reclaim their rightful place when the AFCON 2019 qualifiers resume in September.
