Ghana have reached the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations final after beating Niger Republic 2-0 on Thursday night at the Cape Coast Stadium to set up an intriguing final match against Nigeria.
Kizito Kwame and Sarfo Kwadwo proved heroes for the host country with two goals in each half. Kwame opened scoring in the 32nd minute, while Sarfo Kwadwo doubled the lead with 11 minutes left to play in the second half.
Nigeria in the first semi final game of the day advanced to the final of this year’s edition after a 1-0 win over 10-man Benin Republic.
Nigeria and Ghana will renew their rivalry status when they meet on Sunday night for the second time in the tournament.
The Super Eagles defeated the Black Stars 2-0 on Monday in the final group game to reach the last four of the tournament.
The Western African rivals will meet for the 50th times since the first game between both countries in 1951. The Black Stars have claimed 19 wins compared to 12 wins for the Super Eagles.
