Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick has said the country’s intention in participating in the Russia 2018 World Cup, is not to make up the numbers but to make history.
Speaking to news men in a press briefing shortly after he led a delegation to inspect the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium Port Harcourt on Thursday, Pinnick said that Nigeria’s target is to win the 2018 World Cup.
“Like I keep saying I don’t have regret saying it, our aim is to win the World Cup and that’s the truth,” said the NFF President.
“When people ask me what is your target? You want to get to the third round, I say no we want to win the world cup.”
He added “The simple reason is because when you have a child, you don’t pray for the child to be half baked, you don’t pray for the child to finish third, you always want the child to finish first.”
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are to play Congo DR in an international friendly on May 28 in Port Harcourt, they will play another friendly against England at Wembley stadium, ahead of a final outing against Czech Republic before the World Cup starts.
