Chairman of the Bet9ja Nigeria National League [NNL] Mr Chidi Offer Okenwa, has thanked the Nigeria Football Federation [NFF] for making the Super 8 tournament possible.
Speaking in Aba before the kick off of the tournament, the seasoned sports administrator also made a case for the controversy that almost crippled club football in Nigeria.
“I want to start by thanking the nff, for making it possible to be here and doing this beautiful business but what I will take exception is the controversies.
“Everyone in sports are youths irrespective of your age and as youths, we agree to agree and agree to disagree. There were family issues but they have been resolved.” He said
He went further to express the body’s readiness to host a successful tournament and present the best teams to the top tier of club football in Nigeria.
“We have done what we are supposed to do in terms of organisation of the tournament and we’re looking forward to the gladiators take the centre stage and we expect that the best teams will gain promotion to the NPFL to compete and not just to participate.” He concluded.
The Bet9ja NNL Super 8 tournament kicked off on Sunday 6th January and will climax on Thursday 10th January with four of Gombe United, Kada City FC, Real Stars FC, Kogi United, Shooting Stars Sports Club, Bendel Insurance, Delta Force and Remo Stars will be promoted to the Nigeria Professional Football League [NPFL].
