After a successful League debut campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL) last year, Kano based Nigeria National League side, Giordano FC are determined to gain promotion into the country’s top flight as the 2017/2018 NNL season gets underway on Saturday.
Technical Adviser of the team, Husseini Abba ‘Zola’ made this known during a chat with naijafootballplus.com on Wednesday.
According to the gaffer, the team has come a long way from the amateur divisions and are ready to take up bigger challenges that will come with the long awaited 2017/18 season.
“Finally the league will start this weekend and we’ve been preparing for it because we had enough time to conclude our plans,” said Zola.
“Our players are ready and I am confident that they will deliver our mandate at the end of the season.”
Ahead of the new campaign, the team played two build up games during the week with NLO outfit Zoo United and four-time NPFL champions Kano Pillars. Giordano came back from two goals down on Monday to draw 2-2 against Zoo United while they lost by 4-2 against Kano Pillars on Wednesday.
Giordano FC are drawn in group A1 of the abridged league alongside Bimo FC, Gombe United, Malumfashi FC, Sokoto United, EFCC FC, Adamawa United, Jigawa Golden Stars, Real Stars FC and FC Zamfara.
The ‘Zola’ led team will begin their campaign against Bimo FC of Nasarawa on Saturday at the Sani Abacha stadium, Kano.
