Bet9ja Nigeria National League side Kaduna United will play their next three home matches behind closed doors.
This follows sanctions which includes a fine from the league’s management following an assault on match officials in Kaduna United’s last home tie with conference leaders Kwara United on Match Day 21.
A media publication from the NNL management indicates that the sanctions are in keeping in line with the rules governing the 2016-2017 season.
The publication states in part:
Kaduna United will play under locked doors in their next three (3) home matches as the League management has decided to seize the keys to the Kaduna Township Stadium following assault on match officials in their last home tie with conference leaders Kwara United- (Match Day 21)
This is in keeping with article twenty (26) of the rules governing the 2016-2017 season .
Official reports indicted some fans and supporters of Kaduna United for attacking match officials on the day after the encounter and inflicting various degrees of bodily injuries in the process.
An ultimatum of seven days was also issued to the Kaduna State Football Association to on Wednesday,16 August 2017 produce the assailants to appear before the Compliance Arm of the League.
In addition the League management says that Kaduna United will have to pay the sum of one million naira (N1,000.000.00) as fine for the offence committed.
Attacks on match officials is nothing new to Kaduna United.
In 2014 when United campaigned in the NPFL, the League Management Company (LMC) banned the Official Supporters Club of Kaduna United from all league games for a period of one year.
This followed a reported breach of security around Match Officials in Kaduna by members of the Club after an encounter between hosts Kaduna United and Heartland FC.
