Three goals in 14 second half minutes helped Kada City to to the summit of group A in the second matchday of the Bet9ja Nigeria National League [NNL] Super 8 tournament after the Kaduna based team saw of Kogi United 3-0 in Aba.
The victory helped Kada City leapfrog Gombe United who had earlier beaten Real Stars 1-0 courtesy of a late Adamu Mohammed strike in the first game of the day.
Reacting after the match, the assistant coach of Kogi United, Musa Abubakar expressed his disappointment with the officiating but promised that his team will keep pushing for a ticket as all hope is not lost.
“I don’t think Kada City is a match for us. We lost the match to the referee. We still have to pull the strings because a win for us can still get us a [ticket] because we don’t know what might happen between Gombe United and Kada City. We’re going to work hard and we’re going to work hard till the end.” He told journalists.
Technical Adviser of Kada City FC, Adams Usman on his part indicated that the focus has automatically shifted to his next game against Gombe United and never hid his desire to win.
“Yesterday, I said we needed this match badly and with this scoreline it shows that we really responded to that.
We’re leading the group with goals and we respect Gombe United but we will leave no stone unturned. I still want to beat them and win the group so we can play in the final and probably win the tournament.
“The officiating wasn’t in our favour. If you plan well, you will see what you have planned. They didn’t plan well and we were evidently better especially in the second half.”
Both teams will rest tomorrow as hostilities will resume on Wednesday for the last group matches.
