Kada City FC of Kaduna and Gombe United of Gombe picked the two promotion tickets as winners and runnersup respectively of group A in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League [NNL] Super 8 tournament in Aba.
Both teams progressed after playing out a goalless draw in their final group game to finish five points apiece with Kada going top as a result of a superior goal difference.
Kada City drew 2-2 with Real Stars FC of Abuja and saw off Kogi United 3-0 while Gombe United recorded a draw in their first game, a 1-1 scoreline against Kogi United and laboured to a 1-0 win over Real Stars.
A goalless encounter between Gombe United and Kada City FC meant that Kogi United’s 2-1 victory over Real Stars meant nothing as both teams will return to compete in the NNL next season.
Gombe United will be promoted after spending just one season in the second tier and will hope to maintain their top tier status with a better display than they did in their last season.
Kada City on their part will be tasting league football for the first time after an impressive 2017/2018 NNL season.
