Super Eagles invitee and Hapoel Be’er Sheva striker Anthony Nwakaeme has said he “hopes to take his chance” having received his first call-up to play for Nigeria.
Nwakaeme was among 23 players invited to the Super Eagles ahead of the crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
With the football season in Israel already underway, 28-year-old striker has scored 5 goals for Hapoel in all competitions.
“I’ve really been working hard with my team (Hapoel Be’er Sheva) and I’m very happy to be here. I just want to take my chance and do my best,” said Nwakaeme during the Super Eagles pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
Despite being overlooked severally by coaches handling the Super Eagles, Nwakaeme revealed he has never felt “disappointed” at being ignored.
“I’ve never been disappointed, because for me I always think my time will come so I’m just waiting for the right time to come for me and I’m very happy the coach had to recognize me this period”.
