Super Eagles duo of striker Anthony Nwakaeme and midfielder John Ogu started for Isreali side Hapoel Beer Sheva in a disappointing 2-2 draw away to 10 men Beitar Jerusalem in a Monday night week 11 game.
Anthony Nwakaeme equalized for Hapoel in the 55th minute just three minutes after Marcel Heister had put the host ahead.
A minute after Nwakaeme’s goal, came a red card for Beitar Jerusalem’s Michael Seroshtan.
Maor Melikson then completed the turn around for Hapoel in the 62nd minute, but there was to be a late drama as the 10 men Beitar equalized through Erik Sabo in the 90th minute.
Anthony Nwakaeme will console himself with his fifth league goal of the season after 11 games played, but the team will go back disappointed having dropped 2 points from a winning position, thereby failing to pull ahead of Hapoel Haifa who they now join at the top with 24 points each but with Hapoel Be’er Sheva behind on goal difference.
Up next for Hapoel Be’er Sheva is a Thursday cup game against Maccabi Haifa.
