Arsenal has finally reached an agreement with FC Porto that will see young Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali join the Portuguese outfit reserve side next season on a season long loan deal.
Nwakali will face a new adventure in the 2018-19 campaign in Portugal with Porto B side in the second division. With ‘The Dragons’ reserving the option to sign him on a permanent basis.
Nwakali sounded enthusiastic while speaking during his unveiling;
“My main goal is to develop and evolve as a player, to improve my qualities and the other aspects that I know I need to correct to grow in the way I play. I think FC Porto is the right place to evolve as a player.
“I know Porto very well because one of my idols always in football played here: Deco. He was a player that I loved to watch and I hope one day being able to meet him and tell him the importance he had in my desire to be a football player .” the Super Eagles B Team player concluded in an interview captured by Goal.com.
Nwakali currently 20-year-old, came to limelight after captaining Nigeria to the U17 World Cup title in 2015, before joining Arsenal a year later.
However, he is yet to make any appearance for ‘The Gunners’ till date and has been loaned out to Netherlands club sides MVV Maastricht on two occasions and VVV Venlo.
