Nwakali, Uzoho make Rohr’s 24-man list to play Algeria, Argentina


Super Eagles technical adviser Gernot Rohr on Monday made known his list of 24 players he has selected to play Algeria in a World Cup qualification match in November as well as the highly anticipated friendly with Argentina in Krasnodar.

Captain John Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa topped the list of invited players, but there were surprised call-ups for former Nigeria U17 World Cup winner Chidiebere Nwakali and 18-year old Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

As reported earlier, Francis Uzoho replaces Plateau United’s Dele Ajiboye in Rohr’s list of goalkeepers.

On-loan Kasimpasa defender Kenneth Omeruo was placed on the standby list of players alongside uncapped Russia based Brian Idowu.

Nigeria will first play Algeria in Constantine, in the last group match of qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup before traveling to Krasnodar, Russia were they will play Argentina in a friendly on 14 November 2014.
