Nwakali’s Maastricht qualify for playoff

Dutch Eerste Divisie side MVV Maastricht has secured a play off position in the Netherlands.

The dutch second division side who have former Nigeria Flying Eagles captain Kelechi Nwakali on their books confirmed their place on Monday after Den Bosch lost at home.

Den Bosch who mathematically still had the opportunity to overtake Maastricht provided they won their game, lost surprisingly to Emmen 1-2 at home.

Maastricht will know their opponents in the first playoff round on the final match day in Saturday.

The first playoff round in the Dutch second division is to secure a place in the second round play off which will pitch 2nd to 9th placed teams in the division against the 16th and 17th in the Eredivisie in a promotion/relegation playoff.

Nwakali joined Maastricht on loan from Arsenal for a second spell and he has turned out to be a success with the team.
