NWFL champion shield to debut in Lagos


Organizers of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) have announced a new tournament to boost the development of the Women’s game in Nigeria, Naijafootballplus.com understands.

The Independent League body of the Women’s League on Wednesday in Lagos announced the maiden edition of the NWFL Champions Shield Cup slated to hold in the City of Excellence on March 4th, 2018 at the Soccer Temple, Agege.

Chairperson of the Independent League body Aisha Falode confirmed the new tournament during a media parley in Lagos early hours on Wednesday.

“I want to appreciate other board members of the NWFL, the clubs administrators and all stake holders involved in the development of the game. We are excited to add this tournament to our competitions and we hope to make it great,” said Falode.

The NWFL champions Nasarawa Amazons will take on Aiteo Cup champions Rivers Angels in the Champion Shield Cup next month in Lagos.
