Sunshine Queens FC team manager, Mojisola Adekanye says the brilliant displays of her team in the first round of the Nigeria Women Football League is a product of determination on the part of her players.
The Betty Babe’s enjoyed a successful first stanza in the women’s league amassing a total of 16 points from five games.
The soft spoken team manager in an interactive session with journalists in Akure admitted the performance as job half done, emphasizing there are more ahead to be executed in the second stanza of a league she also described as ‘more competitive’.
“We have only done half of our job and we are excited about our stride. It is a result of preparation and hardwork from the stakeholders and especially the players. The league to me has improved tremendously, from its organisation to officiating, teams now win away from home convincingly unlike years ago.” Adekanye said, beaming with radiance.
On what fans should expect of Sunshine Queens next round, she said the players are aware of the task ahead and willing to finish what they started well.
Mojisola further explained that the aim of the team is to win a double this year having won the first major title for Ondo state with their Federations Cup triumph in 2015.
Sunshine Queens finished the first round of the Nigeria Women Football League with 16 points in group B after winning 5 matches, with a draw and a loss.
The team will hope to clinch a domestic cup to water their appetite when they file out against Owena Angels in the final of the state FA cup on Sunday.
