Returnee FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s talismanic marksman, Godwin Obaje hopes to shoot his team as far away from the drop zone as possible.
The FCIU striker had been sidelined with injury having picked up a knock on Match Day 6 against Akwa utd, but featured on his return for 3 minutes in the Match Day 14 clash where the Nnewi side thrashed the league champions, Plateau United 3-1.
In a Chat with Naijafootballplus.com, Godwin Obaje thanked God for helping his recovery saying he is delighted to be back playing again.
“I feel great returning to the team. It’s been a long time out, but I thank the almighty God so far and I believe it’s a blessing in disguise for me” Obaje said.
On Fellow striker Yaya Kone, (who scored a hat trick against Plateau Utd) being a threat to his return to the starting XI, Obaje doesn’t feel Kone is going to stymie his return.
“Kone is a very good player and a crafty left footer. We play different styles of football and he isn’t any hindrance to me.
“So for me returning to the starting team, I know I’ll need to fight harder, so I will do my best” said Obaje.
He concluded that his return is to help Ifeanyi Ubah get back to where they belong and far away from the drop zone.
“What I hope to achieve with the team now, is for us to get out of the drop zone and be in a comfortable position because I know where we are is not where we belong.”
The Nnewi club is 12th on the log at the moment but is however just 2 points clear off the 19th placed Elkanemi Warriors.
Ifeanyi Ubah’s next game is a match Day 15 fixture away to Kano Pillars, and Obaje would hope to make Ladan Bosso’s match day team.
