After completing his move to English Championship side Bolton Wanderers earlier this month, former Nigeria international striker, Chinedu Obasi has stated his mission at the Macron stadium.
Chinedu Obasi switched to Bolton as a free agent after he parted ways with Swedish side AIK.
Obasi played 70 minutes for the reserves side against Millwall on Monday and the player spoke to Bolton’s official website stating his intention for the team.
“I want to help the team any way I can,” Obasi told bwfc.co.uk.
“I’ve always wanted to be here, to play here (in England). I love scoring goals and am looking forward to doing great things and helping the team.
“I’ll try to do whatever I can to support the team, help the team. The most important thing is the team.”
The former Schalke 04 player is well aware of the exploits of former Nigerian international Jay Jay Okocha who also previously played at Bolton.
“Jay-Jay is a legend. I came here quite a long time ago to watch him, when I was about 15 or 16 with the Nigeria Under-17s national team.
“Being able to play for a club that he’s been with is a big pleasure for me. It’s a great honour to be here. I’m very delighted to be part of this great club.”
Obasi also stated his willingness to work hard to impress the manager and fans at Bolton.
“I will need every little support that I can get because the league is new to me, but I’ll do my best.
“I’ll fight for every minute to make this club proud.”
Chinedu Obasi signed up for Bolton on a pay as you play deal at the start of March and has only played games for the U-23s to help build up match fitness.
