Odey misses CHAN Eagles test match for trials abroad


Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) top scorer and MFM FC forward, Stephen Odey missed Super Eagles practice match against Kano Pillars Feeders on Friday morning, Naijafootballplus.com can report.

Naijafootballplus.com sources inside the Super Eagles camp revealed that the 19-year forward who has scored 18 NPFL goals this season for the Olukoya Boys missed the Super Eagles practice match due to purported trials abroad.

Super Eagles and Italian goalkeeper trainer Enrico Pionetti was also missing on the technical bench due to the harsh weather condition in Kano.

“Odey has left Kano for Lagos, he might travel soon for trials in Sweden and the coaches have granted him freedom to choose either the trials abroad or stay with the CHAN team for the qualifiers,” the source revealed.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles thrashed Kano Pillars Feeders 3-1 in their first test game as the team intensifies preparations for the CHAN qualifiers against Benin Republic.

El-Kanemi Warriors forward, Samuel Mathias put the CHAN Eagles in front. Pillars Feeders levelled scores in the 27th minute after a poor defensive mix up.

Akwa United attacker, Ibrahim Alhassan scored a late first half brace to put the National team into a comfortable lead. The second half didn’t produce any goals as the CHAN Eagles ran out 3-1 winners.
