Ogu scores in Be’er Sheva comeback

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu scored a brilliant header to help his team Hapoel Be’er Sheva claw back from two goals down to pull a 2-2 draw against Hapoel Haifa in the Israeli league championship playoffs on Sunday.

A first half strike by Alon Turgeman for visiting Hapoel Haifa in the 29th minute left the home fans on the edge of their sits.

There was more to follow in the second half as Eden Ben Basat netted a second goal with just 5 minutes after the restart to put the visitors in a commanding position.

With Hapoel Be’er Sheva pilling the pressure in search of a come back, Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu popped up to meet a good cross from the right with a powerful header to give the home fans back their voice and spark a flurry of attacks by Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

It was however until the 90th minute that the resolve of the Hapoel Haifa defense was broken, albeit via unfortunate circumstances after Eden Ben Basat turned the ball into his own net to finally succumb to the pressure by John Ogu and his teammates.

Ogu’s goal against Hapoel Haifa is his third of the season for the reigning Israeli double champions Hapoel Be’er Sheva in all competitions.
