In the Spanish La Liga, Nigerian forward Kayode Olanrewaju lead the line for Girona in the absence of top striker Christian Stuani for only his second start of the season and he made it count by assisting a goal that saw much celebrated Nigerian young goalkeeper Francis Uzoho concede his first goals in his second appearance for Deportivo La Coruna in Monday night’s clash.

Uzoho who is 18,  conceded his first La Liga goal through a penalty won by Olarenwaju and dispatched by Aday in the  25th minute but Deportivo responded with a penalty of their own as Lucas Pérez equalised in the  51tst minute to make it 1 – 1.

Kayode, 24, who is on loan from Manchester City to newly promoted side Girona, made sure he was the only Nigerian going home with all three points as he popped up with an assist through a knock down for Portu who made it 2-1 in 71st minute and secure a vital win for the Catalan based club.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, who is been monitored by the coaching staff of the Super Eagles, made his debut for Deportivo last Sunday against Eibar.

He kept a clean sheet on that occasion, but conceded two goals in his second appearance despite giving a good account of himself.

Deportivo who face Las Pamas next Monday are 16th on the table with 8 points from nine matches, just a point below Girona who are above them on the table.

Kayode Olarenwaju will be hoping to register his first goal against reigning La Liga and UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid on their home turf next Sunday.
