Oliseh’s Fortuna Sittard close gap on leaders NEC Nijmegen


Former captain and coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles Sunday Oliseh inspired his Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard to a 3-1 impressive victory away at Helmond Sport on Monday night.

The win takes Oliseh and his boys to within four points behind first placed NEC Nijmegen who lost 2-3 away to Telstar.

Fortuna Sittard who defeated Go Ahead Eagles 2-1 last week took their fine form to Halmond’s Lavans Stadion, where goals from André Vidigal in the 18th and 36th minute in between Naudts equalizer in the  30th minute gave Sittard a slender lead at half-time.

But as Halmond poured forward chasing an equalizer in the second half, Sittard wrapped things up in the  second minute of added time through Ashkovs finish on the counter.

Fortuna Sittard remain second on the table with 29 points after 15 games with Ajax II only behind on goals difference..

Up next for Oliseh and his lads will be another away game at PSV II next week Monday.
