Nigeria Super Eagles vice captain Ogenyi Onazi on Sunday scored the third goal for Turkish club Trabzonspor in their 3-1 home win over Genclerbirligi.
In his first appearance for Trabzonspor after a move to Birmingham fell through, the Nigeria international rounded the onrushing Genclerbirligi Goalkeeper before scoring into an unguarded net despite late efforts by a defender to stop his goal bound shot.
Genclerbirligi had taken a surprised first-half lead six minutes after kickoff through Ahmet Ilhan Ozek.
Trabzonspor mounted a fightback through goals from Olcay Sahan who drew the hosts level on 56 minutes. Substitutes Hugo Rodellega and Onazi scored Trabzonspor’s second and third goal respectively to wrap up victory for the hosts.
The Super Eagles midfielder dedicated his goal to his newly born daughter Makayla on social media after the game.
“Thank God for the 3 point, was also great to give my baby #makayla a wonderful gift ⚽️😘 amore. When grace speaks….”
Victory for Trabzonspor took them to 4th position on the Super Lig table after four matches.
