Onyekuru, Bonaventure, Alhassan and Eze light up Europe with goals



Young Nigerian striker Dennis Bonaventure scored a goal for Club Brugge in the 16th minute  to hand them a  2-1 victory over Gent who paraded three Nigerians in their team.

Super Eagles invitee Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti started for Gent with the latter booked in the 37th minute while Simon was replaced by another Nigerian Samuel Kalu in the 76th minute.

On loan Everton and out of favour Super Eagles striker Henry Onyekuru was the hero for Anderlecht as he scored a late 89th minute winning goal over Standard Liege .

Onyekuru was booked for his celebration in a highly charged encounter that saw Super Eagles defender Uche Agbo also going into the books for visiting Standard Liege in the 46th minute.

Both players began and finished the match.


Former Akwa United midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim opened his goal scoring account for Austria Wien when he netted in the 72nd minute to sink 10-men Altach 2-0.


Emmanuel Emenike came on as a 61st minute substitute in Olympiacos 0-1 loss at home to  Atromitos.

In Denmark, inform Nigerian international Paul Onuachu and his Nigerian compatriot Rilwan Hassan were surprisingly not on the score sheet in Midtjylland’s 4-1 win over AaB.

Paul Onuachu provided an assist for Filip Novak in the 52nd minute to make it 3-0 and completed the match.

Rilwan Hassan was subbed off in the 70th minute.


While it ended CSKA Moscow 0-0 FC Ufa, Super Eagles striker Aaron Samuel was an unused substitute for the host.

Little known Nigerian striker Fatai Kahinde came on for FC Ufa in the 80th minute replacing his Nigerian team-mate Sylvester Igboun.


Nigerian U-23 Dream Team VI forward Umar Sadiq was an unused substitute for Torino FC who played out a 2-2  draw against Hellas Verona at home. Umar is on loan at Torino from Roma to help him gain game time, a situation he is not finding easy to come by.

Joel Obi is still out injured for Torino.


Nigerian striker Patrick Eze scored in the 21st minute for Konyaspor in their  1-1 draw away to Yeni  Malatyaspor.

His team-mate Imoh Ezekiel watched the game from the bench unutilized.
