Super Eagles striker Henry Onyekuru, scored two first half goals for Anderlect in their 4-3 win over KV Mechelen at the away team’s
Onyekuru scored in the 30th and 37th minute for what was the visitors second and third goals respectively.
Gerkens opened scoring with 18 minutes played for Anderlect, before Onyekuru
took over and then another goal from Teodorczyk with two minutes before the
break put the visitors in a comfortable 4-1 lead at halftime.
Kv Mechelen got their goals from Schoofs 34′, Pedersen 60′ and Bandé 90’+1 minutes as they fell just short of pulling a remarkable comeback.
The win takes Anderlect from 7th to 3rd on 19 points, though the the rest of the pack are yet to play their week 10 games.
Onyekuru 20′ has now scored 6 goals for Anderlect after a slow start since joining on loan from Everton.
The young striker will certainly be attracting the attention of super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr as an alternative to Odion Ighalo ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Algeria next month.
Onyekuru who made his debut for the Nigerian national team this year, has
been out of the team due to his slow start in adjusting to the Anderlect set up, but he has not looked back since finding his scoring boots.
