Osun Babes striker, Mary Anjor is hoping to maintain the momentum with which she has started at the club.
In her first match for the Omoluabi Queens after joining the club in mid-season, Anjor produced a scintillating performance that earned her a brace and the Player of the Match award.
In the Matchday 8 encounter, Osun Babes defeated Sa’adatu Amazons 4-1 at the Osogbo City Stadium and it was the former Abia Angels forward who put them ahead in the 5th minute from the penalty spot before dribbling two Sa’adatu Amazons defenders to stab home her second goal 20 minutes later.
And the club’s media reported that she “burst into tears” while expressing her joy after the match.
“I am happy to have done so well on my first game for this great club. I am glad I made the decision to come here despite a lot interests from other top clubs. The welfare I have received here since I came is overwhelming,” She told Osun Babes’ Media.
“I told myself when coming here that I must contribute positively to the team’s success and work very hard with my team-mates to see that we make it to the Super Four.
“I’m happy with this award (She burst into tears). This victory obviously came from the work of the entire team, but I’m pleased with this award, as it is my first and I am dedicating it to all my team-mates, the fans and my family.
“We have to now focus on our next game against Nasarawa Amazons and we won’t settle for anything less than a victory,” the Cross River-born striker concluded.
Osun Babes are at home again on Thursday June 29 when they take on Group B leaders Nasarawa Amazons.
The Omoluabi Babes are currently 3rd on the log with 13 points.
