The keenly contested week two game in the Nigeria Women Premier League between Osun Babes and visiting Pelican Stars ended 2-0 in favour of the host, Osun babes.
The Omoluabi Queens got the opener in the 41st minute through last season’s highest goal scorer for the side, Anthony Esther after she brilliantly headed home a beautiful cross from the far right set up by playmaker Adedayo Abiodun.
Coach Adat Egan’s tutored side reacted immediately after Pelican forward,
Tawakalitu, spun her marker and aimed a low drive which went inches wide.
Edewor Precious increased the tally in 62nd minute, after converting a spot kick conceded by Ugah Helen’s foul in the box. The visitors gently protested the call but later took the decision in good faith.

The game produced a lot of scary moments towards the end of the 2nd half as Iherika Chinedu successively denied the host from increasing the tally.

Coach Egan in reaction to his side’s loss after the game said that his wards really performed creditably well but they couldn’t get what they aimed for and Chika Eden was so fantastic for his side in the encounter as she was everywhere.

He further disclosed naijafootballplus.com that there are little areas where they will go back to work and they shall keep working on the negatives before they get it right.

“The host gave us a good fight but if you ask me again, l will disagree with the penalty call by the referee. I prefer a lone goal as the final score line of this contest because the penalty the referee gave was uncalled for.

Meanwhile captain of Omoluabi queens, Esther Elijah, hailed her team mates for the determination exhibited during the contest when she spoke to naijafootballplus.com

“We have determined to bring smiles on the face of the management, officialsfans. We defeated Pelican Stars with the same goal margin wheny visited here last season.

“We were motivated to see the number two citizen of the state of Osun, chief Titi Laoye Tomori cheering us to victory.

“We shall keep fighting and we will not relent in our efforts to secure away points right from our next game”, she said.
