Former ABS FC forward, Ajibole Otegbeye has explained to Naijafootballplus.com why he has joined Aiteo Cup champions Akwa United from Sunshine Stars.
Otegbeye has completed his transfer from Sunshine Stars to Akwa United after a successful medical ahead of the 2017/18 NPFL season with the Promise Keepers.
“I had several offers but Akwa United’s offer was the best. I chose Akwa United because the coach style of play suit my game and the structure of the club is amazing. The superb organization by the club management and a group of quality players with great ambitions. Arguably, this is the best club in Nigeria,” an elated Otegbeye told Naijafootballplus.com.
Otegbeye scored 13 goals for Sunshine Stars in all competitions last season after completing his move in the second round of the season. He scored eight league goals and five goals in the cup competition.
Akwa United will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup next season and two domestic competitions, NPFL and Aiteo Cup.
He added: “I am excited about this big decision in my career, Akwa United is a good team and a tactical side. Every ambitious player want to play with the best team and I am with the best team. I am looking forward to the new challenge and the continental competition, we have got a big task ahead us of next season and we are working hard to be ready.
“I want to win titles with this great group, I am hoping to finish the season with Akwa United with a major treble. We will be competing in three competitions next season and the target is high, I want to contribute to the history of the team and make huge impact next season with my goals.”
