Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has compared the physical style of play by the Senegalese national team as one similar to that of Cameroon after the friendly match played on Thursday against the Teranga Lions in London.
The match between Nigeria and Senegal ended in a 1-1 draw. Fenerbahce of
Turkey striker Musa Sow handed Senegal the lead in the 54th minute of the
second half before Kelechi Iheanacho equalized for Nigeria with just 6
minutes left to the end of the match.
In his post match interview after the game, Gernot Rohr cited the physical style of play by the Teranga lions as the reason why the NFF chose them to prepare for the World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.
“We chose Senegal to prepare us for a physical Cameroon,” Rohr stated.
“We don’t have the power of Senegal but we are learning and getting there.”
Nigeria will next play against Burkina Faso on Monday in their last
friendly before the nations cup qualifier against South Africa in June.
