Ahead Sunday’s CAF Champions League first round, 2nd Leg clash between Plateau United and Etoile Du sahel in Kano, United’s Striker, Joshua Obaje has affirmed the team is ‘battle ready’ for the game against Etoile.
Plateau United lost 4-2 in the first leg in Sousse on the 6th of March.
Three goals in the first ten minutes saw the club from Jos fall to such a loss, but the two away goals surely gives them an advantage for a team whose goal scoring prowess and record at home can’t be over emphasized.
Striker Joshua Obaje in a chat with Naijafootballplus.com says the team looks forward to making the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
“The team is prepared to progress to the group stages come Sunday and we are ‘battle ready’ to hurt the Etoile fans.
“Many are talking about how strong Etoile is on the continent, but we’re not bothered about their name because we are league champions, so we are a big side also.”
Playing home away from home
Owing to a protest from Etoile over inadequate facilities at the new Jos stadium and the lack of an international airport in Jos, CAF moved home matches for Plateau United to Kano.
A prayerful Obaje calls on fans from Kano city to come out en masse to show support and raise the players confidence on the pitch.
“I pray that God favor us on sunday and make everything from the beginning till the end be in our favor. With His grace coupled with our preparation, I believe we are coming out top after 90 minutes on Sunday.
“Though CAF has moved our home venue to Kano, we urge all fans across Kano city to come out and show us support, we won’t dissapoint them.
“We are ready to put in out best for the fans, they should just stay calm and pile on the support, it’s of certainty for Plateau United to progress come Sunday.”
