Player Chat: Kelly Kester reiterates Enyimba’s aim of winning league

Enyimba midfielder​ Kelly Kester has assured Aba fans that Enyimba will win the league and compete in the continent next season.

Speaking with Naijafootballplus.com in a chat On Wednesday Evening, Kester spoke on issues bordering on Nigerian football.

“Our[Enyimba] aim is winning the league, so we are in the continent next season automatically,” said Kester when asked where he thinks Enyimba will finish come the end of the season.

At the end of last season, Coach Gbenga Ogungbote was announced as the new Technical adviser of Enyimba. The former Shooting Stars coach have guided the team into 7th position after 25 match rounds and Kester revealed Ogunbote has a good relationship with the players.

“Our position on the log shows much improvement in our team, and he has got good relationship with the players”.

Asked about his opinion on the recent poor performances​ by Nigerian representatives on the continent, he said: “Preparation is key and teams need to prepare very well to represent the country well, you can see Rivers United benefitting from good preparation.”

On Rivers United Progressing to the next round in the CAF Confederation Cup, the Enyimba Defensive Midfielder remains positive that the Port Harcourt based side can qualify for the quarter-finals.

“Yes i think they can, they have got a good squad and are in a good position”.

Not one who is shy of making his opinion known, Kester also spoke on Super Eagles loss to Bafana Bafana of South Africa and how he felt watching Nigeria fall to the Rainbow nation.

“It was a painful loss as a Nigerian, also having the experienced players back in the team is most imperative.”

He also had a word of advise for coach Gernot Rohr ahead of Nigeria’s double header against Cameroon in August.

“We can’t be scared of Cameroon, because we know the capability of our team, plus the loss against South Africa was the first in a very long time, so i see us defeating Cameroon”.

Above all, speaking to us on his career and playing abroad, Kester said: “this is my 5th season in the NPFL and it is every Nigerian players dream to play abroad, so by the Grace of GOD, soon enough I will be playing abroad”.
