Pre World cup match: Canada beats Super Falcons

After recording a superlative result a of 6-1 win over UMF Selfoss of Iceland, Nigeria’s Super Falcons lost 1-2 to another World Cup bound team Canada, on Monday.

The game played at the Pinetar Arena saw Nigeria’s senior female team dominating the early proceedings with fantastic attacking displays which paid off in the 27th minute with France Desire Oparanozie opening goalscoring

Canada took over the game after Nigeria’s goal and kept most of the possession and they leveled through Schmidt Sophie in the 47th minute.

Janine Beckie scored the winning goal in the 53rd minute of the encounter.

The introduction of England based Ini Umutong, Uchenna KANU and Chinaza Uchendu added bite to Nigeria’s attack but was unable to breakdown the Canadian defence.

Next on the card for Super Falcons is the WAFU tournament later in the month.
