South Africa’s heroine, Chrestinah Kgatlana, has attributed their victory over Super Falcons of Nigeria to the good preparations they had prior to the tournament.  Kgatlana who was named woman of the match after she scored her 11th international career goal to give South Africa a 1 – 0 win over Nigeria said their hard work and good preparations all through the year finally paid off and gave them victory against defending champion ( Nigeria)

” We prepared throughout the year for the competition, played alot of matches (16 matches) bearing in mind that it won’t be easy for us and I think our good preparation finally paid off because we got good victory against Nigeria

“Kgatlana dismissed the thoughts that Banyana Banyana had revenge on the back of their mind going into the match but rather they wanted to kick off the competition with victory that will increase their chances of progression in the competition.

” It was never about revenge, we wanted to start the competition by winning our first match against Nigeria in order to increase our chances of progressing from our group”.

Kgatlana also took a dig at Nigerians that the negative comments about them on social media motivated Banyana Banyana to come all out to beat Super Falcons.

” We saw alot of negative comments by Nigerians about us on social media but today (Sunday), we can see that football is not played on social media but for those willing to play”
