Reigning NPFL champions Rangers International have been knocked out of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup after losing 0-3 (2-5 on aggregate) to Zesco United in the round of 32 second leg fixture in Ndola on Saturday.
First leg of the encounter ended 2-2 in Enugu last weekend when Rangers threw away a two goal lead in the second half.
Rangers players and officials arrived Ndola less than two hours to kickoff after both parties fell out due to allowances.
“We got to Zambia less than two hours before the game and we are humans and we can’t cheat nature. My players didn’t eat since yesterday (Friday) and the Zesco players are more physical which proved decisive in the game but all the same I’m proud of the players,” Rangers coach Chukwuma Agbo said after the defeat.
An elated Zesco United coach, Zlatko Krmpotic showered praises on his players.
“Congratulations to my players, we came into the game with a better advantage. I am satisfied with my players performance to score three goals.
I hope we can keep this brilliant performance in the group stages,” said the Serbian coach.
