Rangers forward Ifeanyi George says he hopes to score 15 goals this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

George opened up his goal scoring account for the season in the 1-1 draw against Sunshine Stars in Akure at the weekend.

The forward struck in the 28th minute to give Rangers the lead in the match day 11 encounter but Rangers had to settle for a point after Nojeem Raji headed in an equalizer in the 42nd minute.

After finishing as highest goal scorer for the Flying Antelopes last season, George was expected to start the current season with a bang but only just got his first goal of the campaign on match day 11. George speaking after the match in Akure insists he was under no pressure despite the lack of goals.

“I wasn’t under any pressure but as a striker it always registered at the back of my head that I need to score goals and this is week eleven and I had not scored a goal.

“To crown it all I was the highest goal scorer of the team last season and I came in the second round. So I needed to put in more effort and I pray I’ll keep scoring goals for the team.”

Now that he has finally gotten off the mark,  Ifeanyi George reveals that he intends to hit 15 goals this season.

“To be sincere, I had a target for myself 15 goals. I promised myself I need to score up to 15 goals this season.”

I pray now that I have started the account, it will coming like that.”
