The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State Gov. Tanko Almakura has fulfilled his promise to players and officials of Nigeria Women Premier League outfit Nasarawa Amazons to pay up their 2015/2016 sign on fees in full.
The state government had earlier promised to pay up the sign on fees of the players, when the honourable Commissioner for Sports in the state Mr Anangba Bamaiyi paid a courtesy visit to the players last month and finally the promises made is said to have been fulfilled with their 100% sign on fees paid.
The players were said to be full of smiles and thanked the State Government for keeping to their promise as they also promised to do their bit in their last match of the first round against Delta Queens.
In his reaction, the Chairman of the club Alhaji Audu Nuhu the Gwom mama said they are grateful to the governor of the state Tanko Almakura, the deputy governor Silas Ali Agara, commissioner of sports Mr Anangba Bamaiyi and the good people of Nasarawa State for all the support they have been getting.
He added that the club will continue in its quest to be the champions of the Nigerian Women Premier League at the end of the season.
“We are happy for all the supports we have been getting from the government, they have done their best and we promise to do ours too starting from the game we have to play today against Delta Queens in Lafia.
“We are not going to underrate our opponent because we know they can cause upset.
“We will go all out to get the maximum result against them. They are a good side and we have to keep the winning momentum going”.
Nasarawa Amazons are top of the group B standings of the Nigeria Women Premier League with 13 points and will play their last game of the first round on wednesday against Delta Queens.
