There were three Nigerians involved in Finland’s Veikkausliiga game on Friday night between FC Inter featuring Philip Njoku and KuPS FC who have Gabriel Reuben and Gbolahan Salami on their books.
But it was KuPS midfielder and AFCON 2013 winner Reuben who grabbed the headlines with 2 goals in their 2-1 win over FC Inter, strikers Njoku and Salami fired blanks.
Reuben scored in the 38th and 88th minutes to stage a comeback from Furuholm’s 33rd minute opener for FC Inter taking his season tally to 7 goals in 27 appearances this season.
Former Warri wolves and one time NPFL top scorer Gbolahan Salami was brought on in place of Ilmari Niskanen in the 68th minute but failed to find the back of the net as he did last weekend with a double strike from the bench.
Salami has 8 goals to his name from 22 appearances having served a 5-game ban for poor disciplinary conduct .
Meanwhile FC Inter striker Philip Njoku, 21, has scored 2 goals in 21 outings for his side
