The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has slashed the Super Eagles B team win bonus from N700,000 ($2000) to N200,000 ($600) Naijafootballplus.com can report.
Nigeria defeated Benin Republic 2-0 in the second leg fixture of the 2018 CHAN qualifiers final round on Saturday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano. The Home-Based Eagles sealed the CHAN ticket 2-1 on aggregate with goals from Rabiu Ali and Kingsley Eduwo scored in each half of the game.
Naijafootballplus.com understands the Federation has cut down the team’s win bonus from a tasty $2000 to $600
The aggrieved players expressed disappointment with the NFF decision to cut down the team winning bonuses.
“We were told before the first leg game in Cotonou that our winning bonus is $2000. The Federation also told us in Cotonou that they came with the bonus only for us to lose the game,” said a player (name withheld) to naijafootballplus.com.
“We won yesterday and the NFF told us our winning bonus would be N200,000. We were told to drop our account details and expect alert on Monday.
“We are still in shock with the NFF decision to cut down our winning bonuses after telling us we would earn $2000 each. How can we explain this? From $2000 to a peanut, some of us spent personal cash on flights when our clubs couldn’t afford it.
“We put everything into the game to ensure we save the NFF from another disaster of not qualifying for tournaments and this is our reward for serving our country with our hearts.
“We are not happy, we are bitter. This treatment towards us is unacceptable, it is not about the money but the manner they treated us and the lies. We are glad we didn’t fail our nation but the NFF should have kept their promises,” said the source to Naijafootballplus.com.
