Rivers Angels Head Coach, Edwin Okon says he looks forward to a much better outing when his side files out against newly promoted Sure Babes FC on Matchday 2 of the Nigeria Women Premier League.
The Edwin Okon led Angels only managed a goalless draw away to Delta Queens in Kwale on Match day 1 and the hugely experienced coach is hoping for an outright win at the familiar grounds of the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Okon speaking to Rivers Angels media ahead of the encounter, says work has been put into the team to ensure mistakes made in the draw against Delta Queens are not repeated.
“We’ve worked on our mistakes from the previous game and I’m confident the game on Wednesday will be better,” he said.
The Rivers Angels coach was highly critical of officiating in the opening game of the season and adds that he is sure there would be better officiating in the match against Sure Babes in Port Harcourt.
“I’ve always said it that Port Harcourt is one ground you’ll get fair officiating and good football,” Okon said.
“I don’t encourage my players to rely on match officials because we work really hard.”
Wednesday’s meeting with Sure Babes is the first time both sides will be playing each other in the league.
The newly promoted Babes defeated Heartland Queens 1-0 in their first game last Thursday in Ilorin.
