Rohr explains non invitation of China based players to Eagles Squad

Coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr had a sit down with players of the national team to address the non invitation of Nigerian players who transferred to China.

Captain of the super Eagles John Obi Mikel, former Watford striker Odion Ighalo and Brown Ideye who are regular members of the Super Eagles since the German took charge of the Nigerian national team were all exempted from the friendlies against Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Speaking to the players the coach explained that the trio of Mikel, Ideye and Ighalo were not invited because he wanted them to fully settle in the Chinese league.

He went further to say that they will be invited for future engagements if they are fit and in good form.

Nigeria will tackle Senegal today (Thursday) at the Barnet’s stadium also called the hive in London in one of two friendly games that will be used to put the team in shape ahead of crucial AFCON qualifier and World Cup qualifiers later in the year.
